Wargaming Terrain

A wargame without terrain is pretty boring.  Now I'm a firm believer that you don't need to have you wargaming table look like a diorama but you have to have something.  Don't get me wrong there are some guys that have awesome tables and some guys have really basic tables that work just as good.  Plus you don't have to worry about them getting damaged as much.  Right now I'm at the stage of a flat table with some basic terrain.  Almost all of my terrain is handmade which does save money  but takes time.  The plan for this page is to display some of my terrain with the possibility of some how-to's or at least links to the sources I used.

"Light" Jungle Terrain Piece

Here's a shot of a "light" jungle area that I made from scratch.  The goal is to make several of these that can be set up together to make a jungle area.  If you look you can see at the base of the tree that's laying down I placed a magnet on the board so the metal washers I have my trees based on will stick to the piece better.  The tree on the left is sitting on the other magnet.   I got the trees I got from a model railroad store.  The base is made of artist board with spackle spread over it then painted.  The grass was bought from Hobby Lobby and the shrubs are bagged moss you can get at any hobby store.  One thing you have to watch is the warping of the artist board when the spackle dries.  Even after everything dried it did warp a little still.  I'll probably use something different for the base from now on.
